Job Description
This is a non-merit position with the Dept of Human Services - Woodward Resource Center. Candidates must follow the instructions in the "To Apply" section.
Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise.
This position is located in Woodward, Iowa.
Performs medical assessments (including, but not limited to, annual physicals, quarterly follow-ups, routine/acute care, pre-procedure assessments as needed, admission history and physical) to diagnose medical conditions, prescribe medications, monitor ongoing treatment, and make referral to clinics/hospitals, according to generally accepted professional standards of care.
Develops medical treatment plans for clients and shares responsibility for plan implementation by including ancillary clinical disciplines and all care providers, and by relating to the client in a manner which is conducive to bringing about improved physical or mental health.
Participates/attends interdisciplinary meetings providing medical information about persons of care in treatment planning and quality improvement processes. Completes medical records/reports to document medical care provided to the clients in accordance with medical documentation guidelines established by the facility.
Works and communicates professionally with other physicians, professionals, family members, community personnel, and clients to meet their needs and to provide a quality service.
Acts as medical officer of the day on-call (MOD) and in this capacity is responsible for the medical care of all residents according to the facility policies. Educates and provides medical instruction to various professionals and staff on a variety of medical issues and concerns.
Be knowledgeable and adhere to all policies, procedures, laws, and regulations as set forth by ICF/MR regulations as set forth by ICF/IID regulations, Code of Iowa, and the Department of Human Services in order to assure quality medical/treatment services for the clients.
Variable schedule, weekends and holidays, on call as needed
Must maintain current licensure as a Physician by the State of Iowa
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from an accredited school of medicine, completion of an internship program and licensure as a physician by the State of Iowa.
