Athene Senior IT Manager, Enterprise Data Management in West Des Moines, Iowa

Purpose:

The Senior IT Manager will be responsible for further building out our enterprise data warehouse capabilities to support Athene’s business needs. The role requires managing a team across geographical locations and lead the team to identify, research, analyze and resolve complex information technology issues related to data warehousing. The ability to partner with other IT functions, manage complex systems, understand business processes, ensure our policies and standards are adhered to and continuously build for the future are all essential to the success of this role

Accountabilities:

  • Drive continuous improvements to the core data warehouse and drive innovation by introducing new capabilities/technologies/processes etc.

  • Ideate, define and lead the implementation of automated processes to ensure reliability and accuracy of information loaded into the databases.

  • Provide effective performance management including but not limited to annual assessments, recognition and disciplinary action in accordance with Athene policies.

  • Provide technical advice to senior IT management or Project Managers, assisting them with high level planning or issue resolution.

  • Mentor and support the professional, technical and personal growth of team members.

  • Understand and guide internal policies and procedures (standards, controls, and metrics).

  • Coordinate with all areas of enterprise data management as a lead to ensure patterns, decisions and tooling is implemented in accordance with enterprise standards.

  • Deliver projects within defined EPMO fundamental metrics: schedule, costs and resource allocations.

  • Drive the adoption of cloud technologies focused on AWS.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 6+ years of Data Warehouse experience.

  • 3+ years technical leadership experience, including people management.

  • Hands-on experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL.

  • Knowledge of DevOps tools like Git, Jenkins.

  • Previous annuity or financial services experience preferred.

  • Proficient in Systems Development Methodologies (SDLC) and hand on experience with Agile/Iterative delivery.

  • Skilled with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio etc.)

  • Strong SQL skills.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
