As the company's second line of defense, Corporate Risk — or Independent Risk Management — provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework (https://portal.teamworks.wellsfargo.net/rc/CorporateRisk/Pages/riskmgmtfrmwk.aspx) and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk.

The Operational Risk Senior Officer covering Wells Fargo Technology (WFT) is responsible for applying independent risk management practices to ensure WFT manages risk in a safe and sound manner and complies with regulatory requirements and guidelines from multiple jurisdictions (e.g., OCC, FRB, FDIC, CFPB and international regulators). This role will develop and execute coverage and monitoring plans to oversee a functional unit(s) within WFT, including operational risk generated with consideration of established risk appetite and tolerances. This leader is expected to establish credibility and drive influence with front line stakeholders, including executives in both WFT and Corporate Risk, by leveraging the Wells Fargo Risk Management Framework, policies, procedures, and risk management principles. Demonstrating thought leadership, influencing independent risk management program quality, and contributing to improving governance and risk culture is expected. Preparation and delivery of aggregate risk opinions through accurate reporting, high quality written documents, and effective presentations are responsibilities in this role. A successful candidate will serve as a delegate for the Operational Risk Director as required.

Focus areas for this role include cloud computing and application portfolio modernization oversight within an Agile environment. Potential for alignment to digital technology and innovation risk management monitoring.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management) or 10+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 7+ years must include direct experience in risk management

Desired Qualifications

  • 4+ years of Agile experience

  • A BS/BA degree or higher

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC)

  • 2+ years of experience in Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, Distributed Computing, Chatbot, and Virtual Assistant

  • 2+ years of data management experience

  • 2+ years of vendor management experience

  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment

Other Desired Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience with Cloud technologies

  • 4+ years of experience with application integration
