    As a Parent Referral Services Specialist , you will be a vital member of the team, connecting parents/families with childcare and other essential services and resources through the parent referral services program. This position is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with parents/families, understanding their needs, and providing them with relevant referrals to support their children’s development and well-being.   • Respond promptly to requests for childcare services/inquiries from parents/families.

  • Assess childcare and additional community service needs of parents/families and understand challenges they may be facing through an interview process.

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents/families to create a trusting and supportive environment.

  • Collaborate with community organizations, agencies, and service providers to ensure effective referrals and follow-ups.

  • Research and stay updated on local, regional, and national resources available to families, including educational, healthcare, and social services.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of outreach strategies to increase awareness of the referral program among parents and community stakeholders.

  • Attend community events to promote the services offered and establish partnerships with local organizations.

  • Conduct informational sessions and workshops for parents to increase their awareness of available resources.

  • Provide parent education through individual consultations and presentations to community and employer entities.

  • Ensure services and supports provided are in compliance with all rules and regulations per applicable performance standards.

  • Knowledge of state childcare licensing standards and registration guidelines for childcare providers.

  • Tech savvy and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; ability to adapt to new applications and technology quickly.

  • Sense of humor and desire to positively contribute to team.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, family services, social work, or related field

  • One (1) years’ experience providing support and/or counseling to families and/or children.

  • Experience working in childcare and/or child development preferred.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • A valid driver's license, good driving record and the ability to pass extensive background checks including but not limited to criminal, abuse and Medicaid exclusion.

    Location: The ideal candidate will be based in or nearby the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area. However, this position may be able to work remotely part of the time but will require frequent travel to our Waterloo or other regional offices for collaboration and meetings.
