Position Purpose:

Patrols Waterloo Medical Center campus and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and illegal entry. Periodically tours buildings and grounds, checks doors, windows and gates. Confronts unauthorized persons for questioning, routes or details them or calls the police. Monitoring of improper parking. Escorts personnel as requested. Adheres to MercyOne's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of MercyOne.

What you will Do:

Makes rounds/patrols premises. Responds to and resolves problems. Provides documentation. Coordinates efforts to maintain/improve safety. Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures. Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School or Equivalent (GED) Prior experience preferred. Valid IA driver’s license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR). Mandatory Reporter. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI) within 6 months of hire. Demonstrates general working knowledge of computers and department specific software. Maintains confidentiality of information pertaining to clients, physicians, colleagues, and MercyOne business. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Maintains a safe working environment and practices safe working habits. Intermediate language, basic math, intermediate reasoning ability. Ability to remain calm and professional under adverse situations, while supporting a service-oriented atmosphere. No serious or aggravated misdemeanor or felony convictions. Must submit to background investigation.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Driving hazards, exposure to hazardous conditions (weather, traffic, noise, and vehicle mechanical failure). Travel may include hazardous road conditions. Work may result in exposure to communicable or infectious disease. Exposed to the possibility of injury from irrational or confused patients and visitors. While assisting with patients, could lift up to 100 lbs. infrequently. Must possess the ability to comply with Trinity Health policies and procedures.
