Tyson Foods 1+2 Maintenance Training Program in Waterloo, Iowa

Get paid $18.00 p/hr plus full-time benefits for going to school for Industrial Maintenance.

How it Works

The 1+2 Maintenance Training Program allows you to earn $18.00 per hour while attending Industrial Maintenance courses at Hawkeye Community College. Participants attend classes 4 days a week for 6 hours, spend one 4-hour study session at Tyson and work hands-on in maintenance on Sunday. Benefits include medical, dental, retirement and more. Program participants must maintain a grade point average of 2.0 or higher and commit to working for Tyson for a minimum of two years after completing the training program to have all their educational costs covered by Tyson.

What You Will Do As A Mechanic At Tyson Fresh Meats

Maintenance mechanic positions are responsible for keeping machinery running to maintain continuous production including troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining machinery and equipment used in the pork processing industry.

Requires performing work involving hydraulics, electrical, plumbing, conveyor maintenance, 3-phase wiring, AC/CD control wiring, welding and pneumatic systems; set up, adjust and break down of production line machinery.

Mechanics work varied shifts, including weekends and overtime as scheduled.

Read equipment manuals, instructions and written standard operating procedures to repair equipment. Climb ladders and work from elevated platforms, stand or walk for 12 hours on hard floors. Work environments include wet, humid, hot and cold with temperatures that rang from 35ׄׄ°F to greater than 90°F,. Must be able to work around the sight and the smell of meat (Pork) products and bi-products from processing meat.

Requirements

Resume is required: Resume must contain contact information, related work experience/history, skills and educational information. Preference given to applicants with prior experience in these required fields: Mechanical troubleshooting, Electrical/Electronic troubleshooting, Hydraulic troubleshooting, PLC troubleshooting and Navigation, Welding/Fabrication, AC/DC Control Wiring, Motor Control, 3 Phase Wiring, Plumbing, Conveyor Maintenance, Hydraulics, Pneumatic systems. High school diploma, GED or equivalent is required. Preference will be given to candidates that have not previously worked for Tyson. The 1+2 maintenance program is part of a Grant Issued to Tyson Foods. Candidates with previous maintenance experience are encouraged to apply for our Industrial Maintenance positions.
