Job Summary

As a Community Troop Manager, you are responsible for representing and extending Girl Scouting in the community through serving as a Girl Scout Leader to eight multi-level troops. The successful troop experience will consist of, but not limited to: participating in the Cookie Program, earn badges, partake in field trips, and attend camp. You will ensure the troop experience is accessible and delivered throughout the assigned jurisdictions and that all required components of a Girl Scout troop are met.

It is crucial that the Community Troop Manager provide effective communication to community partners and parent/guardians. This position functions within the Mission Outreach team and will work collaboratively with members of the Recruitment, Girl Experience, and Volunteer Experience teams. Evening hours and occasional weekends are also required for this position.

A day in life... (Essential functions)

• Lead 8 multi-level troops while adhering to Girl Scout principles and safety guidelines

• Work with girls to customize troop year-plans to provide fun, interactive, girl-led activities based on Three Keys to Leadership: Discover, Connect, and Take Action

• Manage data driven plans to achieve goals and set benchmarks to measure success

• Stay up-to-date on all program level requirements and all required volunteer trainings

• Utilize troop banking spreadsheets to manage troop finances including collection of any fees, vendor payments, supplies purchases, product funds, receipt maintenance and monthly reporting

• Process and complete registrations and other troop paperwork, such as permission slips

• Oversee with honesty, integrity, and careful record-keeping of the funds that girls raise

• Cultivate adult participation and support of the Community Troop Program

• Monitor issues and provide support for problem-solving and conflict resolution to troop members

• Respond to all inquiries in an appropriate, prompt and efficient manner, working to provide a positive member and community partner experience

• Provide ongoing feedback to strengthen the Community Troop Program

Job Qualifications

The fine print… (Qualifications)

• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Minimum 1-year experience working with youth or equivalent combination of education and transferable experience

• A program design background is preferred but not required

• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and proven problem-solving skills

• Ability to manage finances for multiple troops and provide accurate and timely monthly reports

• Proven excellent customer service orientation and interpersonal skills

• Effective communication skills (written, verbal and presentation)

• Ability to work independently and in a team setting, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality

• Competency working in a culturally environment or the willingness to acquire these skills

• Strong computer skills with MS Office products

• CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain

• Valid Driver’s License and a good driving record
