Urbandale Community School District Campus Monitor (full-time) - UHS in Urbandale, Iowa

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION : The purpose of the Campus Monitor position is to, under general supervision, provide supervision and support for students across the school day.

7.5 hrs/day

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities :

  1. Ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment including computer, printer, ten-key calculator, copy machine, fax machine, telephone, etc.

  2. Effective oral and written communication skills.

  3. Must be able to interact in a positive manner with students, faculty, parents, and other staff members.

  4. Knowledge of School District policies and procedures.

    Education :

  5. High School Diploma or equivalent required.

    Experience :

  6. Some experience with supervising children preferred.

    Equipment :

  7. Office equipment such as cell phone, multi-line phone system, fax machines, copiers, and computers.

  8. Assistive devices such as wheelchairs and walkers.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  9. Supervise students in all school areas as needed including but not limited to aiding with transition times in the hallways, monitoring high-traffic areas such as the commons/cafeteria and parking lot, school events that occur during the school day, and providing classroom support.

    1. Provide support for designing and implementing school-wide systems to increase student success in the areas of attendance, behavior, and grades at the Tier 1 and Tier 2 levels including but not limited to classroom behavior response, individualized student planning, and collection and analysis of data

    2. Contribute to school and district goals in the area of attendance through supporting staff in accurate attendance practices, collecting and analyzing attendance data, and collaborating with the attendance team regarding MTSS practices for individuals and groups

    3. Build and maintain positive relationships with students to help facilitate progress toward attendance, behavior, and academic standards while modeling and teaching positive behaviors

    4. Support individual and small groups of students in social skill development, conflict resolution, relationships with peers and staff, monitoring progress, and future success planning

    5. Communicate with students and staff to provide information about school-wide processes.

    6. Assist administration in identifying and prioritizing behavior response plans and collection of data.

    7. Knowledgeable regarding emergency procedures and aid in the safety and security of the building.

    8. Maintain confidentiality in all interactions with students, staff, and the community.

    9. Maintain a reliable attendance record.

    SUPERVISION OF OTHERS :

  • None

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Satisfactory health as certified by a competent medical authority upon hire.

  • Repetitious bending, lifting, and hand movement.

  • Ability to work while standing, moving and/or walking.

  • Drug, tobacco, and alcohol-free while working.

  • Must be able to see and hear within normal limits with or without corrective lenses or hearing aids.

  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle used to travel between sites.

    WORKING CONDITIONS :

  • Majority of work is performed in an office or school setting.

  • Occasional meetings outside the school day.

  • Occasional exposure to body fluids, fumes, noise, and hazardous materials and emergency situations.

  • Repetitive walking and patrolling of areas within the building.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :

  • At-will employee.

  • Letter of Assignment.

  • Per Board Policies and administrative guidelines.

  • Performance evaluated annually.
