SUMMARY: Responsible for responding to all facilities service calls, performing preventativemaintenance, painting, and necessary repairs to the hotel and restaurant equipment and assisting with FrontDoor Iowa Properties.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned by the MaintenanceSupervisor, Maintenance Manager, or General Manager.


General Maintenance: 60%


  • Ensure that afterhours access into secured hotel areas are properly authorized, monitored, and documented


  • Work with outside agencies (i.e., police and contractors)

  • Ensure all required repairs and maintenance is performed using proper equipment

  • Perform preventative maintenance on hotel equipment, fixtures, and other assets

  • Perform daily walk through of the property

  • Assist guests in the event of an emergency

  • Provide standard security 24 hours per day


    Guest Services: 30%

  • Review hotel status and follow up actions with the previous shift employee


  • Ensure all non-hotel personnel arriving at employee entrance are properly escorted while on property


  • Provide escorts for guests or employees, if requested

  • Investigate all emergencies


  • Patrol the property with specified equipment, checking all designated points and document all actions taken


  • Resolve safety hazard situations

  • Ensure all guest room doors are secured; assist guests with room access

  • Investigate suspicious persons on hotel property


  • Conduct designated investigations into theft or lost items, noise complaints, assault complaints, food poisoning complaints and other guest complaints; complete documents reports


  • Respond to the scene of guest/employee accident promptly; administers first aid/CPR; AED (only if certified); communicate specified information to EMS/medical personnel as required


    Administrative Tasks: 10%



  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/standard operating procedures/standards


  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended


  • Review shift reports and be familiar with pertinent information relevant to the daily shift

  • Contact the Maintenance Manager immediately for emergency situations


  • Maintain confidentiality of all security and hotel reports/documents; release information only to authorized individuals



QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: each essential duty satisfactorily. skill, and/or ability required.

  • Some hotel knowledge

  • Must be able to pass a background check

  • CPO certification 


    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent, 21 years of age or older, one yearexperience in maintenance, and some security experience.


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the person must be able tooccasionally move about inside the hotel while transporting maintenance equipment and carts. The person must constantly position self in closets, under desks, and other confined spaces to repair or improve hotel property. Frequently move and lift guest room furniture, maintenance equipment, and other items up to 50 pounds.


    WORK SCHEDULE: Work a full time varied schedule including days, nights, weekdays, andweekends as assigned by department Supervisor or Manager.
