Overall Job Function:
To provide effective guidance and leadership to our custom growers by building relationships based on the best interests of Farmers Coop Society and its investors.
Essential Job Functions:
Planning swine management visits on a weekly basis.
Enforcing Standard Operating Procedures manual.
Executing the organizations sales and marketing plan.
Provide reports on growers and overall herd health to inform investors.
Maintain and grow current customer base.
Communicate effectively with local Veterinarian’s for disease diagnosis and prevention.
Understanding ventilation systems and controllers to provide proper environment for the animal.
Perform postmortems to determine proper diagnosis and treatment and deliver medication accordingly
Marking fat hogs accurately and efficiently to minimize sort loss and maximize return.
Deliver and administer oral vaccinations as required.
Inform Production Manager of any significant health challenges to determine proper treatment and follow-through.
Consistent positive and can do attitude.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work under stress.
Develop new and profitable accounts to grow our business.
Handle and resolve customer complaints quickly and professionally.
Counting and grading incoming pigs accurately and precisely.
Receive and respond to calls daily to evaluate health problems and concerns.
Communicate expectations to growers effectively and professionally in all circumstances.
Display a positive attitude and have the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Reveal the highest level of integrity in all that is required of them.
Dependable and willing to work to meet goals and deadlines.
Prepare growers for audits and audit procedures to ensure a passing evaluation.
Associates or Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, animal science, or related field.
3-5 years of experience in the swine industry.
This position will require minimal office time and will be primarily on farm and on the road. Office equipment utilized will be a phone, tablet, and computer. While on site the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles. The employee will also be in facilities with pigs from 12-350 pounds, these animals can be unpredictable at times. The noise level is usually moderate but occasionally may be loud. PPE will be provided and must be utilized when applicable and according to safety standards. Typical working hours are 7am to 5pm, however long hours, nights, and weekends may be required if necessity demands them.
While performing job functions the employee will be required to talk and hear most of the time. The employee will spend frequent intervals moving and sitting, while also needing to reach, bend, twist, crawl, crouch, stoop or kneel on occasion. The employee will need to be able to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds frequently. The physicality of this job is high.
