1 - First Shift
The Internal Audit Manager assesses and provides reasonable assurance that risk management and internal control systems are functioning as intended. This position will report risk management issues, internal control deficiencies, material findings, activities and results achieved to management and the organization’s Audit Committee of the Board of Directors. This role will influence the strategic direction of the Internal Audit department. This position participates in the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) process and compliance committee on an annual basis seeking input from various sources including a diverse group of managers. The manager is accountable to lead portfolios of assigned audit projects that could cover the following areas: Operational audits, financial audits and related business processes, and external auditor assistance, transactional audits and all related controls, regulatory compliance audits, contract compliance audits and business process efficiency and compliance audits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Lead by exhibiting the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused and stewardship while modeling the associated behaviors. Supervise, organize, mentor and coach assigned team members in performance of their duties while influencing others to carry the Vermeer culture forward. Establish and monitor individual and team goals which are aligned with the organization’s strategies and objectives to drive key business results. Use expertise to ensure department is serving its internal and external customers and meeting defined expectations.
Manage the internal risk assessment and develops an annual risk-based plan to achieve internal audit objectives and scope.
Manage audits including evaluation of internal controls, performing, documenting and reviewing audit test work, communicating audit issues to management, writing audit reports. Ensure audit work conforms to the Standards of the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the Code of Ethics developed by the Institute of Internal Auditors.
Lead overall planning and supervision of assigned audit projects using internal audit software to manage the audit progress and documentation.
Communicate results through effective presentation, negotiation and report writing skills and support an effective follow-up program that ensures that management implements appropriate and timely corrective action on unacceptable risk exposures.
Establish and maintain key relationships throughout the organization as a means of obtaining information needed to perform functional duties, provide business advisory service and to provide strategic recommendations.
Provide leadership including coaching and mentoring to the Internal Audit team members
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
Minimum of 7 years' experience with internal audit or public accounting audit experience.
Other Skills and Abilities
Knowledge in the area(s) of financial systems as well as finance and accounting principles.
Interpersonal skills and ability to deliver communications at the appropriate level for different audiences.
-Experience managing staff.
-Excellent leadership to inspire and motivate others to perform well. Ability to provide continuous performance feedback and encourage growth and development of staff.
-Advanced knowledge of audit principles and theory, the Institute of Internal Auditing (IIA) standards, Statutory Accounting Principles.
Ability to maintain confidentiality while exhibiting expertise and credibility.
Experience with manufacturing companies.
Ability to effectively manage all general ledger accounts and postings.
-Ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationships with peers, senior leadership and all levels of the organization, with a positive and professional image. - Demonstration of good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while supporting the department.
Certificates, Licenses, Registration
CPA, CIA and/or CFE preferred.
Up to 10% domestic and/or international travel by car or plane may be required.
