Wanzek Construction Laborer in Northwood, Iowa




Responsiblefor performing tasks involving physical labor at building, highway, and heavyconstruction projects, tunnel and shaft excavations, and demolition sitesoperating hand and power tools of all types including air hammers, earthtampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuringequipment and a variety of other equipment and instruments, cleaning and preparingsites, digging trenches, cleaning up rubble and assisting other craft workers.


  • Promoteand comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures

  • Performa variety of functions such as dig, spread and level dirt and gravel with apick or shovel

  • Lift,carry and hold building materials, tools and supplies

  • Cleantools, equipment, materials and work areas

  • Mix,pour and place concrete, gravel and other materials using hand tools

  • Join,wrap and seal sections of pipe

  • Performa variety of routine, non-machine tasks, such as removing forms from setconcrete, filling expansion joints with caulking and rebar placement

  • Generalcleanup, demolition, use of cutting torch, jackhammers and placing culvert orpipe sections in trench

  • Spendtime on one job or may be transferred from task to task as the projectprogresses to completion

  • Maybe required to travel to different jobsites on limited notice

  • Maintainan appropriate appearance

  • Otherduties as assigned by Foreman or Superintendent



  • Highschool diploma or general education degree (GED) or one to three months relatedexperience and/or training or equivalent combination of education andexperience


  • Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health andsafety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this roleby taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek’s Zero Injuryprinciples

  • Readand interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenanceinstructions and procedure manuals

  • Addand subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10's and 100'sability to perform these operations using units weight measurement and volume

  • Applycommon sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written ororal form

  • Beable to work within precise standards of accuracy and follow set procedures andstandards
