ALMACO Mechanical Drafter in NEVADA, Iowa

We are excited to add a Mechanical Drafter to our Engineering team!iYou are a detail-oriented person who likes to work collaboratively. You like variety and enjoy working on a lot of different projects at once. You've had at least one year of drafting experience, and you're comfortable working in a manufacturing setting where you'll be around heavy equipment.iiIn this job, you'll use SolidWorks to create parts drawings, assemblies, instructions, and other documentation related to ALMACO combines, planters, and other agricultural research equipment. You'll work with a team of Engineers through the concept, design, and testing phases of product innovation.iiThings you would typically do:i1. Use computer-aided design software and other tools to create parts, assemblies, prints, instructions, and other documentation for the manufacture of ALMACO products.Prepare detailed assembly and part drawings for new or existing products according to company standards.Prepare new and updated existing computer models, prints, and drawings using SolidWorks (computer software).Maintain and update existing prints and drawings using FastCAD (computer software).Physically measure ALMACO equipment and calculates dimensions and apply mechanical principles, formulas, and charts.Create accurate and complete Bill of Materials for parts or assemblies for production use, and changes and maintains documentation as necessary.2. Distribute completed documentation and communicates updates and modifications for the production of ALMACO equipment.Create PowerPoint Assemblies for use in the production of ALMACO equipment.iWork with manufacturing area employees to transfer design requirements to the production of quality products.Explain drawings and assembly instructions to production employees.iiWhat we're looking for:At least one year of successful work experience with drafting electro-mechanical parts, equipment, and devices required OR a combination of education, training, and relevant experience that provides the required knowledge and skills to perform the above responsibilities.Previous experience with SolidWorks (preferred - experience with similar software is also helpful).Previous agricultural, manufacturing, or mechanical work experience (preferred).A High School Diploma or equivalent.iOther helpful skills/attributes:Ability to read and interpret schematics, prints, mechanical drawings, and written technical information.Experience with EPDM is valuable but not required.Good communication skills to discuss and explain technical information with manufacturing employees and engineers.Knowledge of mechanical principles, terminology, safety requirements, and practices.Willingness to work extra hours (overtime) when needed to respond to workload variations.Willingness to respond rapidly to changing priorities and work assignments.Physical Abilities:iAbility to operate a computer keyboard and mouse for up to 8 hours per day.iAbility to traverse equipment in the shop to gather measurements needed for documentation.iAbout ALMACO:iiALMACO creates custom equipment for the seed research industry.
