HORMEL FOODS SALES, LLC Burke - Grinder Operator/Sanitation (2nd Shift) in NEVADA, Iowa

Pay Rate: $18.39 an hour,+ $0.60 Shift DifferentialHours:This position will train on 2nd shift in Plant 1 from 4:00PMto 2:00AMuntil Plant 2 is ready. Once moved to Plant 2, this job will perform the Grindroom job for approximately 5 to 6 hours and then will be responsible for tear down and clean up in the Grindroom and other Sanitation duties as assigned until the end of the shift. This will be a full-time Grindroom position once both shifts for Line 4 are operating in the new plant. Then hours will be 2:00PM- Midnight.All team members must abide by all of Burke's plant safety rules!Requirements:Must be able to read and understand printed product specification documents and machine controlsMust possess good communication skillsThis position requires rigid adherence to procedure, timeliness, and accuracyMust be able to add, subtract, multiply and divideAbility to learn and perform multiple positions (training will be provided)Work in temperatures 32-50 degrees in Grindroom and 100+ degrees during sanitation part of jobBeing able to operate a pallet jack (in-house training provided)Ability to work in an environment that is moderately to highly strenuousBeing able to lift up to 50 lbs frequentlyAbility to do a repetitive taskStanding, walking, scrubbing, climbing ladders, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving on hands and kneesWill handle high-pressure hoses for long periods of time; climb in and under equipment to cleanMust be able to work with different types of chemicalsFollowing good manufacturing practices (GMP's)The individual will be working with confidential batch formulations and must handle access to this information in an ethical mannerThe individual is required to contribute to harmony in the workplaceQualifications: 18 years of age or older and 6 months of work history is required.Grinder Operator Primary Duties:This position overlooks the grinder machine and ensures that the meat passes smoothly through augers and conveyorsComplete metal detector checks every 2 hours with plate check or plate change and records any/all downtimeMay assist grindroom laborers transport meat for the grinder and perform general housekeeping dutiesMust follow lock out tag out proceduresSanitation Primary Duties: Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing all production areas, including equipment, machinery, walls, floors and ceilingsCleans up excess meat on floor by using squeegee or shovelHoses down equipment and machinery with hot water hosesApplies foam to all surfaces in production areas; scrubs equipment and machinery; rinses foam from equipment and machinery; applies sanitizer and oil/air mixture to all surfacesReads and understands chemical warningsVacuums office area; mops floor of laboratory and break room; cleans receiving dock; cleans restrooms and restocks bathroom suppliesDisassembles equipment for cleaning purposes; reassembles equipment.Burke Corporation is a leader in the production of pizza toppings and other fully cooked meats.
