Henry County Health Center Radiology Technologist I in Mount Pleasant, Iowa
ARRT registered, State of Iowa Permit to Practice, and BCLS. Ability to work independently in the radiology department, good communication skills while working with ER patients and inpatients. Prior CT experience or willing to cross train in CT preferred.
A Radiology Technologist I is a professional care giver whom is a registered RT(R) and performs Diagnostic Radiology and not requiring constant supervision. Performs all required functions and educational procedures with the patient for proper care.
Produces quality Radiographs in accordance with the established standards of the Radiologist, Department Director and all governing agencies.
Produces quality x-rays by knowledge of anatomy, utilizing adequate positioning skills, knowledge of Radiographic and processing equipment, proper technical factors, proper PAC’s manipulations of images, and knowledge of quality control testing.
Practices proper radiation protection techniques in accordance with prescribed safety standards in regard to self, patients and other individuals when using ionizing radiation.
Wears assigned radiation badge while working in the Radiology Department.
Ensures that the patient and/or any other ancillary personnel in the Radiology Department are not and/or there is no possibility of pregnancy.
Demonstrates knowledge of and performs all required clerical procedures and duties within the Radiology Department, including computer skills, scheduling patients for procedures in appropriate time intervals, answering telephone courteously and professionally.
Checks requisition and/or prescription/order sheet to confirm the correct examination and obtain any other information needed to perform the x-ray examinations.
Performs direct patient care relating to all other Radiographic examinations and transporting of patients.
Takes an active role in enhancing abilities to carry out job functions through personal and professional job-related growth and development.
Performs all diagnostic exams functions for fluoroscopy, special procedures, critical accident situations, “call back” situations, surgical procedures, and operation of the portable equipment.
Willing to rotate schedule—call—must be here with 30 minutes, unless unusual conditions warrant otherwise. Willing to work weekends, nights, holidays, and 12 hour, 10 hour, and 8 hour shifts.
Ensures the safety and emergency management of patients, employees, and visitors.
Complies with infection control, universal precautions, electrical and environmental safety policies, and established protocols for fire and disaster.
Maintains current CPR certification
Responds appropriately and proficiently in crisis and emergency situations when time is of essence.
Reports and processes errors, omissions, and incidents promptly in order to communicate unusual occurrences.
Attends mandatory fire safety and infection control in-services.
Ensures professional and self-growth through self-motivation and participation in ongoing educational programs and maintains records of continuing education units.
Maintains current registry (ARRT) in general Radiology.
Maintains current license with the Iowa State Board of Health.
Formulates goals and identifies method for achievement for each performance evaluation period.
Participates in staff meetings, in-services, and assigned meetings.
Constantly utilizes a majority of scheduled time maintaining direct contact with patients and demonstrates flexibility as patient care needs changes.
Cleans and organizes rooms as time allows and organizes daily and routine paperwork
Consistently organizes and appropriately executes work assignments.
Assists others in the completion of duties.

Communicates with the Radiologist and Physicians regarding the patient.
Objectively directs concerns regarding established policies and procedures to Department Manager in a timely fashion.
Has a working knowledge and ability to perform all required QC and QI functions in regards to ACR, Medicare, and other governing bodies in regards to Radiology.
Complies with all policies and procedures as established by the Radiology Manager.
Works with Physicians, nursing and office personnel to coordinate patient procedures.
Maintains equipment and accessories, using equipment for its intended purpose and making note of malfunctions on the portal.
Works with other departments within the Hospital to assure coordination of procedures and to assist other departments with their duties as needed.
Performs assigned quality control/improvement procedures for specific modalities within Radiology.
Acquires and completes necessary continued educational requirements as needed to maintain Iowa Department of Public Health license.
Education and Experience
High School Graduation
Graduation from an accredited School of Radiology
Current registry or registry eligible for the ARRT examination
