Job Description: Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach

Responsibilities:

  1. Team Management: Lead and manage all aspects of the varsity girls basketball program, including organizing practices, developing game strategies, and coordinating team activities.
  2. Player Development: Work on individual skill development with players, conduct player evaluations, and provide feedback for improvement.
  3. Game Planning: Create game plans, scout opponents, and make in-game adjustments to maximize team performance.
  4. Leadership: Provide leadership and mentorship to student-athletes, fostering a positive and supportive team culture.
  5. Communication: Communicate effectively with players, parents, school administration, and the community regarding team activities, schedules, and expectations.
  6. Compliance: Ensure compliance with school and league policies, rules, and regulations.
  7. Fundraising and Budgeting: Assist with fundraising efforts and manage the team budget responsibly.
  8. Off-Season Training: Organize and oversee off-season training programs, camps, and clinics for players.

Qualifications:

  1. Coaching Experience: Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school varsity level or equivalent.
  2. Basketball Knowledge: Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and tactics.
  3. Leadership Skills: Ability to lead and motivate student-athletes, build team cohesion, and promote a positive team culture.
  4. Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with players, parents, staff, and the community.
  5. Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management abilities to handle the demands of coaching, scheduling, and administrative tasks.
  6. Education: A bachelor's degree is typically required, along with relevant coaching certifications or training.
  7. Character: High ethical standards, integrity, and a commitment to the overall development of student-athletes on and off the court.
