This position will be working in both Women's Health Center and Urgent Care with varied hours.


A Non-physician Provider is an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) or a Physician Assistant (PA) in the Mercy Clinic Network who provides quality patient care in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. The ARNP works collaboratively with primary care physicians, and the PA works under the supervision of approved physicians. The duties of the Non-physician provider cannot be rigidly defined, but the following description characterizes common expectations of the position. The primary responsibilities may not be interpreted to prohibit functions not specifically identified.


A. Education:

  1. Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner:

a. Graduate of a Masters of Nursing program.

b. Successful completion of certification.

d. Current licensure in the state of Iowa as an Advanced Practice Nurse.

  1. Physician Assistant:

a. Graduate of a CAHEA approved Physician Assistant training program is required.

b. Successful completion of certification.

c. Current licensure in the state of Iowa as a Physician Assistant.

B. Experience

  1. Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner.

a. Demonstrated competency as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner through previous experience is preferred.

  1. Physician Assistants

a. Demonstrated competency as a Physician Assistant through previous experience is preferred.

C. Special Skills, Competencies & Aptitudes

  1. Board eligible or certified

  2. Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa privileges

Excellent verbal and written skills are required, including ability to work with a team. Must provide proof of Basic Life Support-American Heart Association (BLS Healthcare Provider or HealthStream Heart Code) or American Red Cross (Professional Rescuer) via current card prior to employment. Maintains current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support Completes Mandatory Reporting requirement within 6 months of hire. Renews Mandatory Reporting requirement every 5 years. Completes Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association within 6 months of hire. Maintains current certification in Advance Cardiac Life Support Completes Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) American Heart Association within 6 months. Maintains current certification in Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) American Heart Association. Obtain and maintain dysrhythmia interpretation skills. Completes MANDT Training within 6 months of hire. Maintains current certification in MANDT training Completes Introduction to Telemetry for Assistive Staff course or equivalent within 3 months of hire
