Trinity Health Therapist (Clinical Social Worker or Mental Health Counselor) - Behavioral Health - Full Time - Days in Mason City, Iowa

Position Purpose:

The Clinical Social Worker II performs individual and family assessments primarily on an inpatient basis but occasionally throughout the continuum of care.The CSW II conducts individual, family and group counseling and regularly assists with or assumes responsibility for discharge planning.The CSW II provides consultation and education programming to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center staff and to the community.

What you will Do:

  • Within the limits of training, assesses individuals and families of all age groups served presenting with mental health problems especially to the inpatient program.

  • Assists in coordinating care and serves as a resource to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center and MercyOne North Iowa's Clinic staff in making referrals to community agencies and in working with patients and family social-emotional problems.

  • Within the limits of training, counsels individuals and families. Conducts group therapy sessions.

Hours/Schedule:

Full time; Monday-Friday, No weekends or Holidays

Minimum Qualifications:

A. Education:

  • Masters Degree in Social Work from a CSWE training program.

B. Experience

  • Previous demonstrated training experiences in assessment and counseling in a medical or mental health facility is preferred

  • Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Master Social Worker in Iowa and for eventual licensure as an Independent Social Worker

  • Must have demonstrated training in working with patients of all age ranges noted above seeking care in at least the inpatient and outpatient programs of the Mercy Medical Center continuum of care. Competence with day treatment/partial hospitalization programs is also preferred. As such, must have demonstrated training or experience with a wide range of pathologies.

  • Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment or within 60 days of hire and maintains current status.

  • Completes Mandatory Reporting: Child and Dependent Adult Abuse requirement within 6 months of hire and renews this requirement every 3 years.
