Position Purpose:

The nurse assistant provides care to, adult, and geriatric patients under the supervision of the registered nurse. This care focuses on personal hygiene, nutritional needs and activities of daily living.

What you will Do:

• Assists with patient’s physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social and education needs under the supervision of a RN/LPN. (Continuous Learner)

• Supports a plan of care throughout patient’s stay. Provides input/data on changes in the patient’s condition to the professional nurse. (Continuous Learner)

• Supports the discharge plan based on health center/department policy, and patient/family needs. ( Continuous Learner)

• Records patient information in the electronic/paper medical record in an accurate/timely manner. (Communication/Adherence to Policy)

Hours/Schedule:

Full time; Days; Scheduled Days; Weekend/Holiday Rotation; Etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

.A. Education

• Registered on State of Iowa Nurse Aide registry listing as “Active” or eligible or currently enrolled in an A.D.N., BSN, program with successful completion of first semester of A.D.N. program, OR first year completion of nursing courses in BSN OR graduate of an A.D.N., BSN or LPN program

B. Experience

• Nursing Assistant experience preferred.

C. Completes the following mandatory courses:

• Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment or within 60 days of hire and maintains current status.

• Completes Mandatory Reporting: Child and Dependent Adult Abuse requirement within 6 months of hire and renews this requirement every 5 years.
