Trinity Health Cook - Nutrition Services - Full Time in Mason City, Iowa

Position Purpose:

Under direct supervision of the Executive Chef, the cook functions as part of the Food Production Team to produce consistently high quality food for patients, personnel, and visitors. Provides services for all age groups, infant to elderly.

What you will Do:

  • Follows menus and production guides for type and quantity of items to be prepared for all service points. Utilizes principles for batch cooking. Records actual number of servings prepared.

  • Prepares and serves all food items according to therapeutic diets, standardized recipes, menus and service guidelines including quality and appearance.

  • Assembles meal trays to patient care units, including late trays, room service meal trays, and nourishments for general and therapeutic diets on an as needed basis.

  • Follows HACCP techniques and other food safety guidelines in preparation, storage, handling, and holding of all food items including leftovers.

  • Covers, dates, and labels all food items in storage. Rotates food products and other items on a “first-in, first-out” basis.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  1. High School diploma or equivalent certificate preferred.

Experience:

  1. 2-3 years experience in food service preferred.

Special Skills and Competencies:

  1. Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  2. Ability to perform detailed assignments, follow directions, work under pressure, and readily adapt to change in routine and work assignments.
