Administrative Assistant & Pen Pal Coordinator - RSVP

Basic Function: Provide administrative support for all aspects of the RSVP program; responsible for tracking volunteer and program statistics, responsible for maintaining program records and files. Coordinate the functions of the Pen Pal Program.

Start Date: ASAP

Salary and Benefits: This is a 10-month position. The base salary for this position is $13.71 hourly in accordance with the salary schedule established for Office Clerical. Fringe benefits of Blue Cross/Blue Shield major medical health insurance, eye care, dental, life and disability insurance. Retirement benefits as provided by Social Security and IPERS or TIAA.

Provide administrative support for all aspects of the RSVP program.Assist with organizing volunteer recruitment, training, and recognition efforts.Communicate with volunteers and teach via phone and email.Prepare program mailings.Maintain volunteer schedules, hours, and all volunteer records including required forms, supplemental insurance, supporting documentation, etc.Maintain the Volunteer Reporter database.Assist with preparing program reports.Maintain reports for grant funds and expenditures, working with the Business Office to ensure accurate record keeping.Assist with preparing and submitting reports to partner entities, such as the State of Iowa, Corporation for National & Community Service, United Way, and other funding sources.Coordinate Advisory Council meetings. Take and prepare meeting minutes.Maintain the RSVP yearly calendar, office procedures, and office supplies.Coordinate efforts of the Pen Pal Program including training volunteers, tracking letters, and communicating with teachers and volunteers.Perform other program-related duties as assigned.Perform in a manner that strengthens the coordination and cooperation of all organizational components of the College, including opportunities for student recruitment.NIACC Core Principles: All employees are expected to adhere to all NIACC policies and procedures. Qualifications: Minimum two years of post-high school education or two years of related work experience is preferred. Position requires accurate keyboarding, word processing, data entry, editing, filing, record keeping, and other office skills. Microsoft Word and basic Excel experience mandatory. High degree of attention to detail required. At times, must be able to produce a large amount of quality work in a timely manner. Must demonstrate the ability to work and communicate with a wide variety of people. Should be able to work in an individual and team setting, with the aging population, and with all levels of area elementary and middle school personnel. A passion for volunteerism is a plus.
