Mt. Ascutney Hospital Wound Clinic Supervisor in Manchester, Iowa
This position is responsible for the coordination of clinical functions and patient care in the Regional Medical Center Wound Clinic in accordance with hospital standards and policies. This includes patient care assessment, patient care planning and implementation, and working on patient care quality improvement. This position works in collaboration with the Wound Clinic Program Director and Medical Director to meet the clinic’s program objectives and help ensure optimal healing outcomes and patient satisfaction.
Registered Nurse currently licensed to practice in the state of Iowa
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Three or more years acute care, surgical or wound care nursing experience preferred
Wound care certification preferred
Supervisor or leadership experience preferred
Child and Dependent Adult Mandatory Reporting Training required
Reports to the Acute Care Director

Practices Nursing Standard of Care
Coordinates daily operations of the Wound Clinic
Provides direct patient care in clinic based on staff schedules
Coordinates staff scheduling with other Managers/Coordinators supervisors as needed
Knowledge of Wound Clinic and Procedure Center in order to work as staff in these clinics as needed.
Assist with staffing Procedure Center as needed. Maintain competencies and requirements to be able to work in the role of Procedure Center RN as needed.
Coordinates and attends staff meetings
Attends meetings and serves as an active member of the RMC Leadership Team.
Responsible for timecard review and approval for direct reports
Assists with completing schedules in collaboration with other managers/coordinators supervisors.
Completes performance appraisals, corrective actions, and assist with disciplinary actions when needed
Provides input and assist with managing budget for clinic
Assists with development, revision, and implementation of policies and protocols for clinics
Educates, orients and trains staff to work in clinic
Applies effective communication skills with medical staff, hospital personnel, patients and family members
Acts as patient advocate
Performs patient teaching pertinent to the procedures and patient’s diagnosis
Able to perform admission and ongoing patient assessments to identify patient needs and factors that may be affecting patient’s health status
Able to recognize, report and respond to critical changes in patient condition
Excellent knowledge and competence with aseptic and sterile technique
Able to manage, access, assess PICC lines, midlines and infusaport devices
Responsible for carrying out provider orders according to established protocols and standards
Assists with prior authorizations and meeting requirements for proper billing procedures
Evaluates order of medications for appropriateness
Communicates and coordinates with pharmacy regarding procedures/ medications and schedules
In collaboration with IT, leads EHR processes as applicable to the Wound Center
Assists with quality management and process improvement
Reports needs of new equipment or repairs needed of current equipment
Demonstrates ability to tactfully handle difficult situations, remain calm even if a visitor or coworker is upset
Evaluates labs and other relevant patient data
Collaborates with other health team members to evaluate and adjust patient plan of care as needed
Responsible for adequate documentation regarding patient’s care/procedures
Responsible for adequate charging processes for procedures and materials/supplies
Ensures areas have adequate supplies necessary to perform procedures/ patient care
Assists with marketing activities as needed
Assists with meeting compliance regulations
May be required to provide case management to a group of patients providing specific assessments according to protocols and procedures, clinical competence in procedural skills, treatments, and patient/caregiver education related to wound care management.
Organizes and prioritizes clinical responsibilities, provides clinical oversight to clinical staff in the wound clinic.
Collaborates with other health care providers, Wound Care Center Providers, Program Director, and Medical Director regarding clinical and patient needs.
Consistently looks at current processes and procedures, and identifies and implements areas of improvement, while complying with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Department of Inspections and Appeals (DIA), as well as hospital and Healogics requirements
Engages in staff development, providing general in services as well as individual instruction and orientation.
Provides staff recognition through positive reinforcement and constructive feedback.
Collaborates with Program Director in coordination of program objectives, from a budgetary and financial perspective
Collaborates with Director and Medical Director to achieve Wound Clinic quality indicators
May function as a Documentation Assistant (scribe) in accordance with Healogics policy
Performs other duties as required.
