Wells Enterprises Processing Supervisor - Nights in Le Mars, Iowa

Responsible for the direct execution and coordination of all Processing functions. Serves as plant technical leader in the areas of pasteurization, sanitation, regulatory compliance, raw material receiving and CIP/COP processes as applicable. Responsible for communicating expectations, managing accountability, managing raw and dry dairy inventories, conforming to all federal, state, and local ordinances, and delivering desired results in the areas of safety, quality, delivery and cost. Assures direct reports comply with company and regulatory requirements for food quality and food safety. Serves as a backup to the Processing Manager if necessary.

  • Manages (and develops when necessary) all processing activities using established manufacturing control programs (e.g HACCP, QMS, SOPs), as well as company policies (QFSEs), and food safety regulations (PMO, CFR, SQF, etc.). Acts as a certified subject matter expert in regard to pasteurization, HACCP, SQF and state re-sealing certification.

  • Responsible for ensuring millions of dollars of raw ingredients are processed correctly, and efficiently in accordance with compliance requirements and best practices. Takes proactive action to ensure excellence in everyday processes to include milk receiving, pasteurization systems, panel board and blender operations, applicable sanitation, CIP/COP activities among other processes.

  • Takes a leadership role to ensure regulatory compliance is met, assisting in audits for outside entities including FDA, SQF, State, etc. Available as a key contact to State and FDA inspectors. Responsible for monitoring Pasteurization as a CCP (Critical Control Point) and authenticating legal recording charts as required by the PMO. Ensures that all record keeping of these processes meet all regulatory and plant requirements.

  • Follows and enforces required safety policies, promote and acknowledge safe behavior and appropriately address safety-related concerns. Fosters peer-to-peer safety accountability. Monitors quality standards and activities within the manufacturing processes to prevent quality failures and ensure compliance with plant manufacturing control programs, (e.g. QMS), as well as company policies, food manufacturing GMP's, and relevant food safety regulations.

  • Reviews, anticipates and initiates continuous improvement activities within the area of responsibility. Leads CI activities and/or obtains CI resources to address improvements in equipment, process and people. Leads collaborative efforts among diverse departments to achieve positive improvement results. Leads and manages specified projects in conjunction with new product development, improvement initiatives, capital projects and other initiatives at the production and distribution phase.

  • Manages labor schedules to ensure appropriate coverage in support of attaining labor budget goals. Actively seeks ways to optimize the use of labor across multiple business units to ensure the most effective and efficient use of labor. Works proactively to minimize schedule changes and balance the needs of the operation.

  • Provides effective and frequent communication to each audience in the reporting chain, direct reports, manager and peers. Ensures that necessary information is relayed and understood. Actively participates in dialogue using such effective techniques as active listening, questioning and priming to obtain information.

  • Works closely with direct reports facilitating technical and professional development. Provides coaching towards greater performance and helps direct and manage the learning activities of direct reports. Promotes and encourages direct reports to take personal ownership in their education and development. Serves as a coach and mentor within peer group offering experience and leadership towards the development of peers.

Shift/Hours: Nights. Shift start time between 8 PM to 10 PM.
