Position - Lab Tech.
Kelly Scientific Resources is currently seeking candidates for the position Laboratory Technician’s for one of our top clients in Johnston, IA. This role is a 12 months contract opportunity and high potential for further extension.
Pay rate per hour between $18 to $21
Education- Bachelor Biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, Genetics REQUIRED
Associate Biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, Genetics PREFERRED
Work Days: Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri ( 8 AM to 5 PM)
With guidance from supervision, primary responsibility is to assist technical personnel in general laboratory operations and routine laboratory or information handling tasks in support of scientific research. Perform tasks according to accepted methods and training prescribed by the work group.
Regular laboratory works: preparing buffers, culture media, culturing microbes on appropriate media with appropriate antibiotics Molecular biology/pathology lab experiments such as PCR, qPCR, agarose gel preparation and electrophoresis DNA cleaning from enzymatic reaction, DNA/plasmid miniprep, and quantification using Nano-drop DNA and RNA extraction from microbes and plants, DNA/RNA quantification and expression test Making gene construct, cloning candidate gene for testing, designing primers for amplification and testing Basic protein works in the lab including sample preparation and running western blot Fungal/bacterial inoculum preparation, inoculation and phenotyping Disease scoring, ability to work in the field and greenhouse/growth chamber for extended time Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary settings Ability to interact with internal and external groups to manage laboratory, greenhouse, and other duties as assigned to it Participate in molecular based gene identification, molecular cloning and testing strategies, assist in the development of transient gene expression systems DNA preparation for sequencing and sequence analysis Organizing and managing lab chemicals and reagents following the lab safety procedures Ability to prepare SOPs, technical reports, summaries and data analyses
