Role Summary

The Senior Data Architect is responsible for the overall design of the enterprise-wide data and information architecture and associated models. This position will work closely with peer architects, IT Product and Platform leaders, technology leaders, and business users to develop and govern our data strategy and information catalog. The role will help with tool and technology evaluations and provide tactical and strategic direction and support for data and analytics initiatives as well as enterprise data platform initiatives, including, but not limited to enterprise data platform and data lake related decisions.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Partner with business leadership to identify problems, and opportunities for technology innovation

  • Create recurring integrations into enterprise data platform from various enterprise and data ecosystem sources

  • Partner with peer architects, design and engineering Information Management teams

  • Help establish a clear, consistent technology vision through collaboration, influence, and enablement

  • Research, recommend, design and develop our Big Data Architecture

  • Implement business and IT vision through creation of new architecture strategy to span all data platforms (relational, NoSQL etc.)

  • Devise as-is, to-be and interim big data platform architecture to support Corteva’s data needs and platform / data integration transformation

  • Ensure system, technical, product and platform architectures are aligned with business objectives

  • Anticipates and manages technology evolution and relates it to business solution; sets direction based on alignment to business and overall technology standards

  • Stay informed on initiatives across the industry and the enterprise to help product and platform owners and IT leadership effectively prioritize

  • Tailor communication and convey complex ideas in a concise manner to a diverse set of audiences and venues

  • Craft guidance that helps delivery teams identify quality risk factors around security and compliance.

  • Provide tools, frameworks, and governance processes that enable development teams to rapidly build that enable them to deploy software that is consistent with the broader architectural vision

  • Accelerate delivery by forming a network of positive relationships with vendors, and other influencers within the enterprise and beyond

  • Promote the company's technology brand through creative thinking, and constantly raising the bar of what's possible

  • Design and documentation of logical and physical analytical data models for transactional and analytical databases

  • Work closely with data stewards, data governance and developers to create and maintain data dictionary and data lineage

  • Helps investigate and resolve data anomalies including data quality issues and ambiguous data definitions; recommend data integrity checks and controls to ensure data quality.

  • Obtain new data requirements from the business and coordinate efforts with the developers, DBAs and business analysts to solve-for; perform as data SME in guiding both business and IT users of data

  • Source system analysis, data profiling and creating design documents including executable data mappings for development teams to leverage and implement

  • Assist with large-scale data migrations across the enterprise as well as with optimization and scalability efforts

  • Create, review and analyze complex, integrated data models and information from various sources (ERP, CRM, HCM, and Power BI, etc.)

  • Collaborate closely with Cloud Architects to optimize data and information architecture for Cloud solutions, most notably, Azure

  • Help define and implement relational structures, dimensional data models for the needs of analytics and reporting


Position Requirements

5 years of experience with the following:

  • Data quality engineering, metadata consolidation and integration, metadata model development and maintenance, data warehouse and data lake design, data mining and data security

  • Enterprise data warehouse and data lake modeling constructs, methodologies and practices to ensure flexible, scalable, maintainable, and data ecosystems

  • Cloud-based solutions and tools including Azure, HDInsights, and/or similar

  • A Data Architecture role architecting data warehouses and/or data lakes with big data technologies such as Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive, HBase, MongoDB or Cassandra

  • Developing and implementing Data Architecture best practices, deliverables, drawings and frameworks

  • Transitioning legacy data systems support modern, evolutionary architectures

  • Utilizing one or more cloud-based platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, and can elaborate on the -aaS hierarchy

  • Using a wide variety of database technologies and can explain their varied use cases

  • Developing strategies for data movement, data obfuscation (data masking), record retention (Deletion and Archival), data infrastructure/security, operational data stores (ODS), enterprise data warehouses, data lakes and the operational reporting

Experience & Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience

  • 10 years of experience demonstrating a high degree of proficiency in designing and engineering complex, high-quality data technical architectures and detailed designs
