Midwest One Bank Commercial Banking Officer in Iowa

Overview

Performs commercial banking services for MWO customers with respect to the extension of credit and monitoring of the overall banking relationship. Examines, evaluates, and authorizes or recommends approval of customer applications for commercial loans and establishes the overall banking relationship through referrals of additional bank services.

Ensures loan agreements are complete and accurate according to policy and bank compliance regulations. Responsible for all documentation requirements for loans under her/his responsibility in conjunction with the Credit Administration/Loan Operations Departments. Assures timely loan closing and funding activities.

Responsibilities

  • Interviews applicants and underwrites all types of commercial and/or ag loans through existing loan policy guidelines. Collects and analyzes financial related data to determine the general creditworthiness of the prospect and the merits of the specific loan request; submits application to credit analyst for verification and recommendation.

  • Analyzes applicant financial status, credit, and property evaluation to determine feasibility of granting loan or submits application to credit analyst for verification and recommendation.

  • Establishes and negotiates where necessary the terms under which the credit will be extended, including the costs, repayment method and schedule and collateral requirements.

  • Compiles loan package and facilitates negotiation of loan structure with applicant, including fees, loan repayment options, and other credit terms. Ensures loan agreements are complete and accurate according to policy. Promotes and cross-sells other banking products and services as appropriate to customer needs.

  • Approves loans within specified limits or refers loans to loan committee for approval.

  • Assures timely loan closing and funding activities.

  • Works problem or delinquent loan accounts through the collection process in coordination with Credit Management personnel:

  • Advises customers, where possible, on business management and financial matters.

  • Responsible for ensuring all applicable documentation requirements for loans under his/her responsibility in conjunction with the Credit Administration Department.

  • May participate as a member of Senior Loan Committee and make presentations of loans needing approval to the committee.

  • Calls on business customers and potential clients and promotes the Bank to enhance commercial banking relationships.

  • Identifies and analyzes potential loan markets to develop prospects for commercial loans.

  • May participate in the planning process for the region’s Commercial/Ag Banking Department.

  • Assists the Lead Commercial Banking Officer in the market with designated credits and special projects.

  • Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university preferred plus 3-5 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
