Cargill Site Continuous Improvement Lead in Iowa Falls, Iowa

Position Purpose & Summary

The Site Continuous Improvement (CI) Lead is responsible for driving the execution of the continuous improvement (CI) program and for leading the processes for building site capabilities. This position will deliver CI tools and processes via workshops and practical application or ‘just in time’ training. The Site CI Lead stimulates Leadership thinking about structured problem solving, performance dialogue and standard work and ensures the successful application of CI tools and methodologies for the program. This is accomplished by coaching and mentoring project initiatives like Kaizen, A3’s, Gemba and standard work development. Additionally, this role will work with the site leadership team to develop the CI Plan for the site, which includes training, capability development, Kaizen schedule, ACI and standard work. This role requires an independant leader who can partner effectively with all levels of the organization.

Principal Accountabilities

65% Continuous Improvement Leadership

•Leads and facilitates change in CI culture to significantly improve Business and Functional alignment and organization execution.

•Work in partnership with Site leadership on the execution of continuous improvement processes and tools and core principles.

•Provide feedback on CI project selection, scope, definition, and performance to ensure alignment with business strategy

•Drive continuous improvement culture change through best practice sharing, vocal advocacy, and visible leadership

30% Program Execution and Value Realization

•Assist Regional and Global CI Leaders in program administration and coordination, including the development and execution of continous improvement deployment strategy and plans.

•Conduct CI workshops to lead teams in sustainable performance improvements.

•Participate in the CI Talent Factory through training completion, project execution and leading the integration of CI tools and processes at the site

5% Miscellaneous Duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or equivalent in experience

• 5 years of general experience

• 2+ years work experience in process improvement, continuous improvement or demonstrated performance in an operations environment

• Lean Six Sigma Green belt or in the process to complete it.

• Familiarity utilizing tools such as RT Duet, Model Elevator and other diagnostic tools.

• Experience utilizing formal and informal networks within an organization to deliver results and remove obstacles for team members

• Demonstrated ability to directly and indirectly influence change within the organization

• Demonstrated experience with effective communication of goals and strategies across multiple leadership levels of an organization

• Experience working with leaders within an organization

• Proven ability to identify issues, obtain relevant information, and relate / compare facts from different sources to identify solutions

• Proven ability to use expertise, experience, and network to manage through ambiguous situations

• Experience acting as a role model and coach, tailoring coaching techniques to individuals and situations

• Ability to communicate the program’s vision and mission, emphasizing how an individual’s work aligns with the strategic intent of the program and the organization as a whole

• Must have a valid driver’s licence and record of safe driving behavior.

• Technical Skills

• Analytical Problem Solving: Able to identify problems; apply structured and disciplined methodology to identify root cause using data

• Ability to facilitate small and large cross-functional teams

• Ability to build strong working relationships

• Demonstrated experience with effective communication of goals and strategies across multiple leadership levels of an organization

• Knowledge of key business financial metrics

• Understanding of Continuous Improvement methodologies, tools, trends and best practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Masters level degree or MBA

• 5 years work experience in process improvement, continuous improvement or demonstrated performance in an operations environment

• Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or higher

• Technical Skills

• Technical competency in Lean Six Sigma skills: DMAIC, Lean, Kaizen/Work-out

• Ability to recognize unsafe conditions and behaviors and remediating them
