Hourly Youth Sports Program Job Openings

The City of Iowa City Recreation division is accepting applications for positions within the Youth Sports Program. Hourly Youth Sports Program staff assignments may include the following:

Youth Sports Supervisor 16.00 per hour Definition of Work: Individuals will be responsible for ensuring a safe and fun learning environment for the City of Iowa City Parks and Recreation youth sports program. Duties include but not limited to: court set up and take down, attending to all volunteer coach needs, establishing open line of communication with parents, volunteer recruitment, general supervision of gym and facility, substitute coaching if needed and communicating with Program Supervisor any concerns. Conducts self in a manner which promotes and supports diversity and inclusivity in the workplace and community. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 16 years of age. Background and basic knowledge of youth sports required. Experience working with youth ages 12 and under required. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions as well as work independently required. Must possess strong communications skills. Must be comfortable interacting with children and parents. Must be able to provide transportation. Must pass criminal background check. Hours of Operation: Varied schedule including evenings and weekends.

Recreational Youth Sports Instructor 15.00 per hour Definition of Work: Individuals will be responsible for coordinating and instructing an introductory sports program for youth ages 5-12. Duties include but not limited to: developing daily lesson plans, provide instruction and break down of fundamentals, court/ field set up and take down, establishing open line of communication with parents and players, maintain rosters and daily attendance, communicating with Program Supervisor any concerns, and performs other duties assigned. Conducts self in a manner which promotes and supports diversity and inclusivity in the workplace and community.

Minimum Qualifications: At least 18 years of age. Background and basic knowledge in the sport. Experience working with youth ages 12 and under. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions as well as work independently. Possesses strong communications skills. Comfortable interacting with children and parents. Must be able to provide own transportation. Must pass criminal background check. Hours of Operation: Varied schedule including evenings and weekends.
