Hourly Storm Water Assistant Engineering Division Public Works Department

Two hourly positions available Full-time seasonal daytime hours or variable daytime hours up to 25 hours per week

Start and end dates are negotiable within June 1st - December 31st season Seasonal full-time positions are limited to a 5-month duration

Wage: $15.00 per hour

Job summary: Assists with administering the Citys National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permit. Tasks may involve distributing educational material and information regarding environmental clean-up events; overseeing volunteer events; investigating illicit discharges and dry weather outfall inspections along creeks; water quality sampling; construction site storm water pollution prevention (SWPP) inspections; storm sewer inventory; post-construction storm water Best Management Practices (BMPs) inspections, research and GIS mapping. Conducts self in a manner which promotes and supports diversity and inclusivity in the workplace and community. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications: Post-high school training in or enrollment in an environmental sciences program with GIS experience preferred. Must have basic computer skills. Requires manual dexterity and the ability to perform manual labor, which may require heavy lifting and using tools such as but not limited to loppers, handsaws, ropes, and rakes. Requires the ability to continuously work under a variety of environmental conditions. Requires the ability to work independently and follow through on assigned tasks. Strong organizational, communication and research skills required. Valid drivers license with a satisfactory driving record required. Must be 18 years of age.
