SummaryThe Technical Director is responsible for selecting key electronics technologies utilized in the development of products and product families for the company. The technical director provides the function of the intermediary between the business development manager or program manager who collects the requirements from the customer and the engineering department who implements the design. The technical director is a combination of technologist, project engineer, product line engineer, and systems engineerDutiesThis individual must have an excellent grasp on the business trends as well as the technology trends in the industry to predict the optimal pallet of CPU and supporting chipsets, combined with boards necessary to provide Crystal customers with high performance computing platforms having an availability of 3 to 5 years.Tech Directors will manage the preliminary and critical design review artifacts associated with their projects. This will include managing progress for each project assigned according to resource availability and department priorities.This position will select technologies that not only have excellent performance and long life but also can be ruggedized for the military market segment of our business.He/She leads the Systems Engineering activity in requirements capture interpretation and clarification, system architecture proposal, bench mark testing, costing, and requirements validation.This position is responsible for creation and maintaining the documentation system called the Product Offering Technical Solution which captures the requirements, documents the proposed offering, captures the costs including non-recurring engineering and testing, and documents the as-built configuration.This position is a key member in creating proposals to customers, presentations, and technical discussions with clients. This individual leads the design team in selecting components that meet the needs for the programs.He/She is also a key resource to the Business Development and Program Management Teams, the Manufacturing, Engineering, and Executive Management during normal operations.He/She is the project lead and works with the mechanical and electrical engineers committed by the Sr. Engineering Manager to successfully complete the project.This individual contributes to proposal and customer responses.Requires:Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Systems Engineering or related fieldExperience:Knowledge of computer hardware and parts. He/She must have a clear understanding of how to develop a computer server, integrate related technologies, and options to maximize utility by a customer.Physical: May be required to lift and grasp computer parts. Ability to read computer screen, blueprints and drawings is necessary. Written and verbal communication skills are needed to promote excellent service to customers and coworkers.Miscellaneous: Ability to work with all levels of the organization, be able to travel to customersites, have a flexible work schedule.
