Job Summary

Under the direction of the vocal music teacher, accompany school choirs during rehearsals and concerts, assist the director in the leading of section rehearsals and concerts, and the coaching of individuals and small ensembles, and to do other related as required.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Able to play piano

  • Able to sight read music

  • Perform piano accompaniment for practices, rehearsals, performances, contests, etc. of school choirs

  • Lead section rehearsals by playing parts, identifying student mistakes and problem areas, correcting mistakes and providing the right notes and rhythms

  • Provide assistance to substitute teachers by helping lead rehearsals as necessary

  • Able to travel to and from all choir related activities, concerts, contests, etc.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Willing to be flexible on hours.

  • Candidate must be able to attend concerts, contests and trips.

    Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree preferred and/or 3 years of experience accompanying choirs.Physical Demands and Working Conditions:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
