       Job Title: Substitute NurseEducation : PRN DegreeTypical School Nurse Duties Assume responsibility for selection and referral of students in need of medical and dental care.Report to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies on school medical matters.Maintain up-to-date cumulative health records on all students.Assume authority, in the absence of a physician, for the care of a student or staff member who has suffered injury or emergency illness.Participate with school staff in developing and implementing a total school health program.Advise on the exclusion and readmission of students in connection with infections and contagious diseases.Advise teachers on health matters, particularly regarding screening for student health problems.Assist school personnel in monitoring the school environment for student safety.Serve as Drug Abuse CoordinatorCoordinate the Wellness Program.Is a certified CPR instructor and helps teach CPR to students and faculty.Serve as Level I alternate investigator for suspected child abuse cases.Dispense student medication.Demonstrate organization and professionalism in fulfilling the responsibilities of the job.Greet all students, faculty, staff, and visitors courteously.Cooperate with and work in a courteous manner with co-workers and other personnel.Dress appropriately for the position and work required.Maintain confidentiality in the school operation.Adhere to applicable state and federal laws, rules, and regulations, board policies and administrative rules.Act as liaison with helping agencies such as the Department of Human Services, etc. when assigned to do so.Maintain accurate health records for all students to include mandatory immunization certificates.Counsel students in good health habits.
