DAYBREAK FOODS INC Maintenance Tech in EAGLE GROVE, Iowa

Summary: This position is a Maintenance Technician in an egg production facility. The purpose of this position is to complete minor to major equipment repairs during non-production and production times of the day.Key Responsibilities: Perform all functions of the position with strict adherence to all HACCP, SQF, cGMPis, and regulatory protocolsEnsure that products and materials are handled and stored in such a way as to prevent damage or product contaminationMaintain compliance with the personnel and process hygiene requirementsEnsure facility supervisors are notified when maintenance or repairs are to be undertaken in any food handling areaInform Maintenance Supervisor, Processing Supervisor and/or Processing Manager if any repairs or maintenance pose a potential threat to product safetyRemove all tools and debris from any maintenance activity once it has been completed. Notify appropriate personnel of completion so appropriate hygiene and sanitation can be performed before commencement of facility operations.Inspect, operate and test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctionsDismantle machines, equipment or devices to access and remove defective partsMaintain food processing equipmentPerform preventative maintenance on equipment, such as; inspecting motors, bearings, belts, fluid levels and replacing filtersPerform general maintenance tasks to include; plumbing, electrical wiring, troubleshooting, installation of new equipment and partsDocument all maintenance performed including preventative maintenanceIdentify any required parts needed and notify supervisorQualifications: Education and Experience-Minimum of high school diplomaMaintenance certification or equivalent experienceMust be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certificationPrevious experience in maintenance is required. Experience in Food Manufacturing or Processing very desirableSafety programs and processes, such as Confined Space, LOTO, Hazcom, Hot Work, Electrical Safety, etc.TroubleshootingEquipment operationKnowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenanceStrong ability to work alone or with little supervisionAbility to determine causes of operating errors and be able to resolve themAbility to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutionsAbility to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problemsAbility to actively learn in order to understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-makingThe ability to communicate both verbally and in writing so that others will understandStrong knowledge in Pneumatics, and Power Transmission are requiredKnowledge of, electrical troubleshooting, computers, and fork lifts strongly desiredKnowledge of safety programs is beneficialPhysical RequirementsMust have; arm-hand steadiness, manual dexterity, near vision ability, finger dexterity, multi-limb coordination, control precision, and static strengthAbility to walk, stand, sit, crouch, bend, lift, grasp, and pinch, as needed to perform all essential functions of this positionAbility to lift 50 lbs.75-100 lbs. assisted liftAbility to spend extended periods of time on feetAbility to walk up to two (2) miles a dayAbility to perform maintenance type dutiesWorking Conditions: Food Processing Facility. Can be wet, warm during summer, dirty while working on machines, some chemical interaction. Uniforms are provided and washed at no charge to the employee.
