ELL Teacher Posting

Full time ELL (ESL) teacher for the 24-25 school year. This opening is a shared position, serving students in both the Central DeWitt and Camanche districts. The successful candidate will work with administrators in both districts to create a schedule based on student needs.

Job Tasks

  • Develops lesson plans, including activities and materials, and implements objectives through individual and small group activities.

  • Serves as a resource person in ESL education for all district personnel.

  • Monitors student’s progress, keeps appropriate records, and prepares reports on a regular basis.

  • Communicates with students, parents, classroom teachers, and administrators through conferences and other means to discuss student’s progress

  • Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in supporting students.

  • Maintains professional competence through professional development activities provided by the district and/or self-selected professional growth activities.

  • Selects equipment and instructional materials.

  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques, strategies consistent with capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.

  • Maintains accurate records as required by law, district policy, administrative regulations and ESL program plan.

  • Performs other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by a supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Iowa Teaching License

  • Appropriate Endorsement for ESL Assignment (or willingness to secure appropriate licensure)

  • Such alternative to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
