Easter Seals of Iowa Team Leader, 24 Hour Direct Support Professional in Des Moines, Iowa
As a 24 Hour SCL (Supported Community Living) Team Leader at Easterseals, you'll play a crucial role in supporting Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and ensuring high-quality care for individuals with disabilities. Your focus will be on building strong relationships with team members and clients, making a positive impact in their lives every day.
Responsibilities:
Supervision and Support:
Provide guidance and mentorship to DSPs.
Ensure DSPs meet agency and program expectations.
Assist with training to ensure successful shifts in residential homes with clients.
Address performance concerns and recognize positive performance.
Client Coordination:
Work closely with clients to develop individualized goals.
Monitor clients' progress toward achieving these goals.
Communicate progress (or lack thereof) to the care team.
Plan and coordinate client activities to meet their needs.
Leadership and Role Modeling:
Be a positive role model for all team members.
Demonstrate a professional attitude, enthusiasm, and commitment.
Lead by example in building strong relationships with clients.
Team Collaboration:
Collaborate with other team leaders to direct services.
Support program needs beyond regular business hours (on-call schedule).
Participate in weekly on-call rotations (one weeknight per week, one weekend every 4 weeks).
Training and Orientation:
Complete a 30-day training and orientation period.
Familiarize yourself with all essential aspects of the role.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, you'll need:
A Bachelor's degree in human services or a related field (preferred).
At least one year of experience providing direct care, preferably in an independent living setting for people with disabilities.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Professional interactions with clients, team members, guardians, and other stakeholders.
The ability to make independent decisions and handle emergencies based on agency and program policies.
Willingness to obtain Medication Manager certification within the first 90 days of employment.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
Willing to participate in a on call rotation as required.
