I. Job Summary

| Major goals

The Security Officer is a position of key importance at Dotdash Meredith. Security Officers are responsible for protecting our people and property, and are often the first to interact with our guests, clients, and vendors. It is imperative that our Security Officers are attentive to detail, maintain a high degree of situational awareness, are diligent in the completion of their tasks, and always provide exceptional customer service.

Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results

    • Ensure the safety and security of all onsite personnel - including employees, visitors, and vendors - as well as the property, workspaces, and critical assets.
  • Conduct interior/exterior foot patrols of the property.
  • Utilize various systems, including access control and video management, to conduct security operations.
  • Maintain daily activity reports; write and submit detailed narrative reports, as-needed.
  • Greet and vet guests in a highly professional manner.
  • Respond to incidents and urgent/emergency situations requiring security assistance.
  • Provide security support to special events or other initiatives, as-needed.
  • Utilize a company vehicle to occasionally transport staff to/from specified locations in a timely and safe manner.
  • Enforce and adhere to all policies, procedures, rules, and regulations set forth by the company and Corporate Security leadership.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Experience:

  • Two (2) years of Security or similar experience, preferably in a corporate environment. Relative internship experience may qualify.
  • Prior military, law enforcement, or executive protection experience is not required, but a plus.
  • Clean driving record as evidenced through a Motor Vehicle Records check.
  • As a condition of continued employment, the employee must maintain the current active status of all required licenses and must carry the license at all times while on duty.
  • Must be willing to acquire First Aid/CPR certifications within 6 months of hire.
  • Applicant must pass the pre-screening process including a background investigation.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be available to work a regular schedule, which may include daytime and/or nighttime shifts, plus overtime on an as-needed basis.
  • Must be a team player, but also capable of operating independently.
  • A pleasant and positive attitude with a professional demeanor.
  • Must be comfortable and adept at interacting with all levels of an organization, from administrative to senior executive staff.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be computer literate, and demonstrate proficiency in operating Windows and browser-based systems. Prior experience with Google Workspace, access control, video surveillance, and visitor management systems a plus.
  • Read, understand and clearly speak English; constantly use speech and hearing (correctable to normal level required) in communicating with onsite personnel, giving and receiving instructions, using phones.
  • Ability to stand or walk constantly, as-needed.
  • Occasionally bend/twist at waist/knees/neck to perform various duties.
  • Constant use of both hands and arms in reaching/handling/grasping/touching while using the phone, notepad, writing reports, and other administrative tasks.
  • Constant use of eyes (correctable vision to normal level required) to observe, read, interact with onsite personnel, view security monitors; includes hand/eye coordination.
  • Work in various environments, including adverse outdoor conditions such as cold, rain or heat.
  • Constant mental alertness and attention to detail required while on duty.
  • Must recognize and follow the chain of command and established security procedures.
  • Must be able to handle working with a high-volume general public (ranging from constant to occasional, depending on assignment).
