Aerotek Research Assistant in Des Moines, Iowa

Position:

· Research Assistant

Shift:

· Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm

Pay:

· $15/hr

Qualifications:

· Bachelor's or Associate's degree within the Life Sciences OR 6 months of greenhouse or field experience (degree is not required)

Description:

  • Performing day to day greenhouse/growth chamber activities including planting, pollinating, tissue sampling, pest/disease scouting, harvesting, threshing, discarding, chamber sanitation, general plant care, data collection, data entry, facility cleanliness and maintaining safety standards

  • Working in the new soybean growth chambers

  • Collecting tissue samples off of soybean plants for DNA analysis

  • Watering, potting soil, and caring for all plants in the growth chamber

  • Replanting samples after data review

  • Assisting in operating the soybean threshing machine

  • Plating samples to be tested by the Molecular Marker group

  • Cleaning of the facility and other basic duties as assigned

  • Plant maintenance including trimming, training, and node cleaning

  • Cross pollinating

  • Plant discard

  • Will be working with soybean, wheat, pollen and dust
