Principal Procurement Category Manager – Technology in Des Moines, Iowa
What You’ll do:
The Global Sourcing team is looking for a Category Manager to advance and manage the IT category strategic objectives that support company business results by optimizing IT spend through categories and market trends. Lead the activities for technology spend categories and drive strategic sourcing initiatives within a global Sourcing function.
You'll need a deep understanding of the IT industry, its emerging trends and develop, implement and evolve category strategies. Utilize strategic sourcing practices to capture savings while making effective supply base decisions. This includes direct savings captured through consolidating enterprise-wide purchasing volume and applying operational and commercial TCO levers to reduce cost.
How you will spend your day:
Build strategic and advisory partnerships with internal business partners and external suppliers.
Explore market trends and opportunities to improve upon value from spending
Analyze and assist in analysis of complex spend and supplier data
Develop and maintain IT Supply Chain categories, capabilities, competencies and long-term strategies to drive business results
Bachelor's Degree in IT Business, Procurement, Logistics, Supply Chain, or Engineering or related field required.
5+ years of IT procurement category experience within the Financial Services industry preferred.
IT Supply Chain certifications desirable but not required.
Knowledge of contracting principles, vendor management, and product/service sourcing.
Experience in Information Technology Sourcing with understanding of Software, Server & Storage (Middleware), Mainframe, Systems Integration, and IT Services Categories.
Experience in negotiations with an understanding of contract implications and total cost of ownership.
Aptitude for solving complex problems and influencing partners, challenge assumptions and opinions to ensure that actions taken are in the company's best interest to deliver against key financial and growth objectives.
Knowledge of IT procurement sourcing framework and methodologies.
