UnityPoint Health Mental Health Therapist MSW-PCDC in Des Moines, Iowa
Provides therapy to clients referred for outpatient and behavioral health services. Participates as a member of a multidisciplinary team to provide continuity of care for patients attending outpatient programs. Maintains accountability for own care to assure adherence to ethical standards. Consistently utilizes a holistic approach (considering physical, psych/social, spiritual, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned service area.
·Provides individual and group therapy utilizing a variety of treatment modalities.Assumes responsibility for maintaining professional and clinical expertise.
·Provides education/information to patients, families and referral sources.
·Consistently utilizes a holistic approach (considering the physical, social/psychological, and educational level of patients, and families).Arranges referrals for spiritual, educational, safety and related needs of patients/families.
·Maintains accurate concise documentation for accreditation and reimbursement.

·Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse.Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff.Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

Preferred or Specialized

Master’s level graduate in counseling, social work, psychology, family therapy or related behavioral health field.
One-year experience as therapist/counselor.
Alcohol/drug addiction and/or mental health experience preferred.Experience appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned area preferred.
Temporarily licensed as a master’s level mental health clinician in Iowa and completion of independent license within 2 years of employment. Temporarily certified as an addiction counselor in Iowa or completion within 1 year of employment followed by complete certification according to IBC guidelines. Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
Independently licensed to practice as a mental health professional in the state of Iowa.
Certified alcohol and drug counselor with the Iowa Board of Certification (IBC).
Requires ability to read, assimilate and synthesize information to make patient care decisions.Must be able to perform with proficiency, independently and have good communication skills.Must possess the ability to make competent decisions in stressful situations.Able to perform dictation.
Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
