Position Summary

This multi-craft position (mechanical and minor electrical), located in Des Moines, Iowa, will provide emergency and routine maintenance support to the operations departments in a machine intensive, heavy industrial environment.

The Maintenance Technician opening is an hourly position with a starting rate of $39.35 / hour.

  • Eligible for Wage Progressions - additional $0.50 at each step. Top out rate of $41.85 / hour

  • Eligible for medical, prescription, dental, & vision coverage on date of hire

Qualified candidates will be required to pass a written technical skill assessment and undergo a one-on-one technical interview.

Responsibilities

Maintains and repairs machinery, equipment, piping, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems of production machinery in the plant. Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical and fluid power components.

Listens, observes, and tests machines or equipment to detect malfunction or abnormality and discusses machine operation variations with Supervisors, Foreman, Engineers, Production Operators, and other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machines. Operates equipment to test for malfunctions and to verify proper repairs.

Responsible for the repair and maintenance of mechanical drive systems, steam, water, air, hand valves, piping, and minor electrical work in the main plant and warehouse.

Documents time spent on job to include troubleshooting, repair, delays, preparation, part and tool retrieval, etc. in an effort to enable continuous improvement and craftsmen utilization. Required to document all work performed accurately in computerized maintenance management system.

Observes and adheres to all safety rules and accepted practices at all times to avoid accidents and/or injuries.

Candidates must have flexibility to work either an 8-hour or 12-hour shift on either a day or night shift. We cannot guarantee any specific shift.

8-Hour Shift Schedule:

Shift A Sunday – Thursday, 10 pm – 6 am

Shift B Monday – Friday, 6 am – 2 pm

Shift C Monday – Friday, 2 pm – 10 pm

12-Hour Shift Schedule

Day shift is from 6 A.M. to 6 P.M. Night shift is from 6 P.M. to 6 A.M. Teammates must be able to work a shift schedule with 48 hours one week and 36 hours the next week.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED Equivalent AND

3+ years of industrial maintenance in multi-craft environment

OR

3+ years high tech maintenance related military experience

OR

Completed apprenticeship program & 2 year industrial maintenance experience

Candidate must possess general computer skills. Candidate must also have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, mechanical drawings, pneumatics, and hydraulic schematics, and procedure manuals
