Easterseals Iowa is actively looking for a Health and Wellness Coordinator. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in fostering well-being and promoting healthy lifestyles within our organization. Your responsibilities will encompass planning, implementing, and monitoring programs that enhance physical health, mental wellness, and overall balance for our clients and team members. We encourage Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Registered Nurses (RNs), and experienced medication managers to apply for this vital position.

Work schedule for this position will be Monday-Friday and weekends as needed.

Full Time and Part Time options available.

Principle Accountabilities:

• Train, and follow appropriate medical routines including record keeping, disposal of medical waste, managing and safeguarding medications, utilize approved standing orders, assist with the setup and administration of prescribed medications. • Review and evaluate medical records and MARs of clients served and provide feedback to Director, Health, and Recreation on best practices in service delivery • Provide basic first aid and medication to clients • Lead medication administration, personal care, and lifts and transfer, trainings for team members on an as needed. • Coordinate, delegate, and train team members on skilled cares required in programming. • Consult with RN team to create and review medical policy and procedure. • Observe team members provide basic health care to clients including personal cares, lifts, and transfers • Contact customers regarding seizure protocols and updated medical conditions. • Train all Easterseals team members in first aid/CPR/AED, personal cares, lifts, and transfers • Schedule RNs to provide additional seizure training, ostomy care and medication education. • Collaborate with the wellness committee in the development of a wellness environment for clients and team members. • Create and monitor health center shift schedules. • Maintain accident/incident reports, daily health log and individual health histories during respite weekend and camp season. • Prepare an evaluation including inventories, program evaluations and make recommendations for the recreation department. • Act as primary contact person for health-related questions. • Check and maintain first aid kits and AEDs. • Serve as a member of the safety teams. • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Requirements:

• Certified Nursing Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nursing is preferred. • Medication Management Certification required or ability to obtain with in 60 days of employment • Certification in CPR (Adult and Child), First Aid and Mandatory Reporting. • Ability to obtain CPR instruction certificate within 60 days of employment. • Previous experience working with routine medication preparation is required. • Ability to develop and lead medication administration course for Easterseals team members. • Ability to work all consecutive weeks during the summer program to assist with check in/check out. • Ability to problem solve. • Ability to be solution focused. • Ability to demonstrate behavior consistent with positive behavior support philosophy. • Desire to work with persons who have disabilities. • Ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to an activity; to model and enforce appropriate safety and emergency procedures. • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats. • Ability to bend, stoop, twist, and lift. • Ability to transfer or move a minimum of 80 pounds. • Ability to work non-traditional hours, work one weekend a month or as needed for Respite. • Ability to work cooperatively with team members, clients, families, and external customers in a professional and concerned manner. • Ability to accept supervision and guidance. • Ability to work independently.
