Responsibilities

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Maintain a clean and well-organized dock area ensuring order and safety for all items being loaded or unloaded.

  • Supervise Operation of forklift as necessary, being sure operators ovserve all safety regulations.

  • Supervise operation of weight scales and proper recording of weights.

  • Direct all incoming material to either the warehouse, dump or As-Is sales, ensuring the best possible distribution of materials for the highest resale value.

  • Cooperate with store supervisor on selection of items for As-Is sales.

  • Oversee all help, maintaining proper decorum of behavior and language as a representative of the Salvation Army.

  • Supervise the unloading of all trucks and CCC units.

  • Oversee loading of mattresses, trailers, and bales. Arrange with supervisor to schedule pick-up prior to being full.

  • Wear any and all assigned PPE provided, including but not limited to gloves, masks, or back guard when doing substantial lifting.

  • Report complaints, damage, maintenance issues, and any injuries occurring on or near the dock area for which the Salvation Army may become liable.

  • Sort, load, and unload all Salvation Army trucks per policy.

  • Must be available for a flexible schedule; to work early shifts, late shifts, and some weekends.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education & Experience :

High School Degree or equivelent, or currently pursuing. Two years of transportation, warehouse, and/or loading dock preferred.

Skills/Abilities :

Ability to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with customers, management and coworkers.

Basic computer skills including but not limited to the use of the payroll program and all other programs or systems that are adopted by the TSA ARC.

Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity.

Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.

Working Conditions :

The work environment for this position is a backroom store or warehouse environment with a low to moderate noise level. The environment may be dusty and may experience temperature fluctuations based on weather.
