We are currently seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Manager (EHS Manager) to be located in our manufacturing plant in Des Moines, IA.
The EHS Manager will plan, organize, and control all Environmental, Health, and Safety activities for CPI and Warehouse operations. They will oversee company safety and training programs as well as recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to affect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
Serves as a compliance subject matter expert in the areas of Environmental, Health, and Safety. Partners with the business to identify opportunities to drive change that improves culture, reporting, processes, and procedures. Ensures that safety programs are in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Establish, develop, and lead an EHS department.
Implements accident and loss prevention programs and leads plant supervisors and managers to achieve zero injuries and accidents. Coordinating safety activities of site managers to ensure effective implementation of safety activities throughout the organization. Manages EFCO's worker's compensation program. Develops and implements strategies to drive improvements.
Coordinates and/or facilitates training programs. Serves as lead facilitator for safety meetings. Provides oversite and maintains records of training activities and employee programs and monitors their effectiveness.
Partners with supervisors and employees to identify and correct unsafe conditions or work practices. Recommends appropriate corrective action and follows action through to completion.
BS Degree related to Environmental Health & Safety preferred with 5 years of Manufacturing EHS experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CSP & OSHA 30 hour certification preferred. Ability to prepare presentations and training programs, and present in front of large groups is required. Must have strong knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, state and local agencies, Workers' Compensation). Proficient personal computer skills, including MS Word and Excel software proficiency. Must demonstrate EFCO's core values and leadership skills. Must work effectively under pressure, exercise good judgment, and maintain confidentiality. Travel is required.
