Aerotek Driller Helper in Des Moines, Iowa
Candidates will be working on a drill rig doing getting soil
samples, in order to check to see what the land and soil composite is before
building on it. Candidates will be lifting pipes, drill rods, and augers. Must
be open to getting dirty doing labor work. Candidates will be shoveling and
taking things on and off the truck.
You will be testing soil, concrete, asphalt. Not all jobs are
on the asphalt, some can be in the mud. The sites are all over the Nebraska/
Iowa area so candidates will need to be able to travel.
Will be taking samples every 5 feet which requires to move
the 65 pound auger every 5 ft. Drill out a sample, collect the sample, document
sample by logging paper work and do the same thing in another five feet
You will go to the office Monday morning and be gone for up
to 2 days to 1 week. It will depend on the job that is lined up for the week.
The scheduled time of travel is 30%.
When asked to travel candidates will get paid per diem (140
per overnight stay) and $25 for travel on the day back.
The work is all commercial/heavy industrial jobs.
You will be working in teams of two and driving around a F550
truck from site to site.
Will be trained. Once fully trained candidates would work
their way to becoming an operator. Would take anywhere from 1 - 2 years and pay
then would be $20 - $22 per hour.
Must be able to lift 50-75 pounds of equipment.
Looking for someone that has a mechanical background that
could help fix equipment.
Just knowing simple mechanical skills is a plus.
1 + years of working with construction equipment - heavy equipment (augers, machinery,
skid loader, etc.)
Looking for someone who is eager, hard worker, and won't get
tired of repetitious work.
MUST HAVE A HIGH SCHOOL DEGREE OR EQUIVALENT.
Candidates will be working outdoors 100% of the time, and
also traveling around. They need to be prepped on the dirty and outdoor working
conditions in the cold and heat. They will also be shoveling soil and doing
