Description/Job Summary


Directs and manages all functions of the Niman Ranch Weaned Pig Program. Assists in the day to day management of the Field Agents team.


Describe below the major responsibilities of this position which must be fulfilled with or without reasonable accommodations in order to achieve the essential purpose of this position.

  1. Directs all WP movements and optimize flows to meet producer needs while working to keep costs minimized. Participates in all growth planning and maintains an active role in tracking new producers and their production.

  2. Negotiates and executes weaned pig contracts with producers.

  3. Fosters, tracks and executes growth of wean to finish spaces in conjunction with Field Agents. Reviews Field Agents weekly reports and ensures their job function are executed. Works with Field Agents team to instill

desire for continuous improvement.

  1. Seeks out, develops and maintains private farrow to wean operations to inject weaned pigs into the program.

  2. Compiles all weekly weaned pig reports and billing and tracks non-return percentage to the plant. Completes quarterly visits to private sow farms to assess compliance and consults on production issues.

  3. Forecasts weaned pig placement numbers for short, intermediate and long term

  4. Maintains functional knowledge of shipping activities and weekly forecasts.

  5. Works with Senior Director to create long term vision for the Pork Division that contributes to the achievement of production goals outlined by the senior management team.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS (include any specialized or technical knowledge, certifications, credentials or licensing required for this position)

REQUIRED: BS degree in Animal Science or related discipline with at least 10 years relevant experience including 5 + years swine management experience. Practical swine production experience. Overnight travel up to 60% should be expected.

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.

PREFERRED: Some sales/recruiting experience
