Curative Inc. Director of Environmental Health and Safety in Des Moines, Iowa

Curative has an opening for an EHS Director to lead the EHS team out of our San Dimas, California headquarters to help enhance the safety culture of the company through support, monitoring, and review of all safety programs and initiatives. Reporting to the Director of

Compliance, the EHS Director is responsible for developing, articulating, and leading health and safety, environmental, DOT, fleet management and biosafety throughout all of our sites, assets and laboratories. This key leadership position will ensure organizational policy and procedure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulatory standards and drives company adherence to those policies. This role actively pursues continuous improvement opportunities throughout the organization, placing focus on reducing safety risks and workplace accidents.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Direct and support a high-impact and metric-based environmental health and safety program and ensure that it is communicated, embraced, and enforced.

  • Develop EHS leadership and culture

  • Develop and maintain active partnerships with all departments across the company to ensure that safety and regulatory compliance requirements are met.

  • Compiles safety statistics, accident reports, safety audits results to present to operations management to develop improvement solutions.

  • Ensure access to environmental health and safety resources, timely consultative assistance, management of hazardous substances, and facilitation of prevention efforts.

  • Identify, evaluate, and analyze risks inherent in the operation of Curative Inc.

  • Monitor the company‚Äôs operations to provide early and accurate identification of rising levels of risk and, in conjunction with management, ensure that prompt action is taken where needed to minimize loss.

  • Provide leadership to all environmental health and safety staff.

  • Develop, direct, and conduct company-wide environmental and occupational training and fire safety education programs.

  • In coordination with Facilities, evaluate and interpret safety standards and building codes established by all local, state, federal government, and similarly recognized regulatory agencies.

  • Reviews and understands all safety related government regulations to align education and compliance initiatives.

  • A visionary with the ability to build consensus, develop and communicate the vision of future safety programs and motivate everyone towards the same goal.

  • Travel to Curative facilities in San Dimas, CA, Monrovia, CA, Austin TX, and Washington, D.C. on short notice.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's in Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Management, or a related safety field with 5-10 years of relevant experience

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)

  • Ten years work experience in environmental health and safety, hazardous materials response, risk management, emergency management, or fire service, and minimum 5 years supervisory experience.

  • Experience in a leadership and management role overseeing diverse personnel.

  • Working knowledge of applicable safety and environmental health laws and regulations as imposed by OSHA, EPA, NFPA and other agencies as required, and skill in performing inspections and ensuring compliance.

  • Proven track record of leading and supporting organizational change and designing program elements to accommodate evolving environments.
