Principal Data Engineer Internship (Summer 2021) in Des Moines, Iowa

As a Data Engineering Intern here at Principal, you’ll have the opportunity to leverage your software and technology skills to deliver on a variety of data solutions. In the Data Engineering domain, we are looking for candidates who have a passion and aptitude for solving a broad scope of data infrastructure/data pipeline related challenges and opportunities. This work is critical to facilitating and positioning the organization for advanced data analysis and insights. Combining data from multiple sources in an on-prem or cloud integration platform, data transformations, data virtualization and data visualization are some prospective domains that you will get an opportunity to work in.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment or has a degree in an accredited program of study

  • Minimum 2.8 Cumulative GPA

  • Involvement in your community

  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills

  • Strong work ethic

  • A passion for technology which includes:

  • Technical curiosity

  • Ability to think critically and solution for technology-based problems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment or has a degree in an accredited program of study related to IT, engineering, or other correlated areas (ex: computer science, MIS, engineering, etc.)

  • Programming experience in any of these languages – Java, .Net, Python, R

  • SQL knowledge or experience

  • Experience with and/or demonstrated interest in tools such as Informatica, PowerBI, SAS, AWS, etc.

  • Leadership positions within student, work or community organizations

  • Past IT internship or work experience

Internship location will be either onsite in Des Moines, IA or virtually from your location selection.
