Technology Control resides within the Wells Fargo Technology (WFT) organization. Its functions improve how we own, assess, manage, and report technology risks, while ensuring that we have strong technology risk expertise, employ the concept of risk management as a utility – operationalizing for efficiency, and move us to progressive risk management based on data and analytical processes.

The Control Sr. Associate is part of the Technology Control Risk Governance, Monitoring and Reporting Team

This role will support overall strategy, management and execution of Metrics and Monitoring program across WFT. This person will drive identification of metrics for Technology (inclusive of Information security) challenge and manage challenges to support identification of effective risk metrics, metric descriptions and trigger rationale as required. This role requires clear communication and stakeholder engagement to support the organization in meeting enterprise risk metric related objectives.

In that capacity the person has responsibility for execution of the Metrics and Monitoring program which includes

1) Metric design consultations (descriptions, boundary setting, etc)

2) Escalating outstanding quality assurance items

4) Providing and advising on enterprise program guidance

5) Assist in facilitating annual metric reviews.

6) Monitoring, reporting and escalating metric boundary triggers to risk governance committees

7) Researching and answering inquiries by oversight teams, including audit activities.

A clear understanding of operational risk, (including related risks such as information technology, information security risk) is key to the success of this role. The candidate will have accountability for delivering on enterprise risk program requirements on behalf of Technology, conducting high quality risk assessments of metrics to drive effective risk monitoring and reporting, and present recommendations to senior management. This is a highly visible role requiring strong interpersonal skills, organizational capabilities, presentation skills and leadership capabilities.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in risk management or 5+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 3+ years must include direct experience in risk management

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access) skills

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization

  • Knowledge and understanding of metrics based analysis: reporting and trend analysis

Other Desired Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience within an Enterprise Technology function or Technology Risk function with demonstrated knowledge of technology systems, applications, infrastructure and emerging technology and associated risks in a business environment

  • 4+ years demonstrated leadership skills and strategic ability to execute operational risk management programs

  • Experience in Operational Risk Management, including understanding of governance, risk appetite

  • Experience in compliance, operational risk, IT systems security, business process mgmt. or financial services, (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk)

  • Broad and significant knowledge of technology and the associated challenges, risks and required controls inherent in a complex federated environment, including knowledge of SDLC, Architecture, Cloud, Datacenter, Vendor and third party, BCP, PMO, Change Mgmt, Problem and Incident Management

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Technology and Security risk framework – COBIT, FFIEC, NIST, ITIL, COSO, BASEL, and OCC Heightened Standards

  • Proven ability and prior experience in generating a business value proposition and justification for risk consideration and input at new product & service inception

  • Proven prior experience in comprehensive risk ownership and accountability for the risk profile positioning

  • Track record of providing constructive challenge with appropriate issue escalation and offering solution

  • Strong ability and experience working with and collaborating with leaders and team members at all levels and across functional lines

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively drive and lead change

  • Demonstrated ability to manage in a matrixed environment both domestically and internationally

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of strategic elements of financial, operational, technical and regulatory environments across a complex global services environment

  • Ability to fluently articulate business strategy and operations; translating organizational strategies into clear objectives and business action
