Co-op services Credit Union Contracts Manager ll in Des Moines, Iowa

The Opportunity

We are seeking a talented Contracts Manager IIto be responsible for managing the vendor and client contract process for the enterprise, while providing support on the development of agreements stemming from new and existing vendor relationships, as well as client agreements. The primary role for the person in this position is to manage contract negotiations, administer and facilitate contracts with both internal and external customers, and manage areas of contract risk and enforce appropriate risk mitigation terms.

What You Can Look Forward to

  • Prepare and negotiate various client and vendor contracts, amendments, and other legal documents.

  • Assist internal stakeholders in interpreting contract terms and conditions.

  • Act as liaison for internal and external customers on all contract processing/administration matters.

  • Draft amendments, addenda, and other documents as required.

  • Manage the client and vendor contract administration processes, including handling requests, facilitating notices, tracking of vendor renewals, managing contract analytics, and ensuring appropriate execution of all legal documents.

  • Manage the enterprise wide Contract Management System, and associated processes to improve the archival rational and tracking of contractual terms and obligations, renewal dates, and expirations.

  • Work with in-house counsel and external counsel throughout the contract negotiation process. Distribute certain contract requests to internal and external counsel as appropriate.

  • Partner with internal stakeholders throughout the contract process from request to execution. Ensure their adherence to contract-related policies and procedures, and help them troubleshoot and resolve contract issues and challenges.

  • Manage and adhere to vendor and client internal SLAs, and subsequently make recommendations for continuous improvement.

  • Collaborate with other departments to onboard new vendors, and manage all engagements and contract lifecycles. Work with the rest of the legal team, compliance, information security, finance, and other stakeholders to ensure contracts meeting compliance and regulatory requirements.

  • Support and help implement changes in systems, processes, and procedures.

  • Document processes and create policies and procedures relating to contracts. Maintain and improve supporting documentation, including vendor and client playbooks.

  • Responsible for reporting risks that are identified to the appropriate team and/or management. Additionally, responsible for managing, monitoring and reporting risks within the scope of your work area, to include, but not limited to Information Security risks.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree from four year college.

  • Three to five years of experience in contract management and administration or vendor management.

  • Corporate paralegal or legal background.

  • Familiarity with legal, contractual, and vendor/sourcing related concepts, practices, and procedures.

  • Proficient PC knowledge and the use of standard software packages, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Five to ten years of experience in contract management or vendor management preferred.

  • Industry experience with credit union, financial institution, and/or payments industry is desirable.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as presentation skills.

  • Effective interpersonal skills, and ability to convey complex information in a way that others can readily follow.

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, as well as ability to prioritize workload using good judgment, while balancing the need for an immediate response with accuracy and completeness of information.

  • Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, internally and externally.

  • Detail-oriented with strong problem solving skills and the ability to identify, analyze, and resolve problems, driving solutions to completion.

  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously, while meeting demanding deadlines.
