Responsible for strategy and design of distribution models for PL and small commercial P&C products as well as incentive plan design for the P&C field sales force on a nationwide basis. Responsible for Agency compensation and contracts, all channels and P&C products.

Job Description

Reporting Relationships: Reports to VP, Prog & Performance Mgmt.; Direct reports include a team of 6 Directors & Sr Consultants; approximately 15 indirect reports.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads the design and development of P&C distribution solutions and ensures that results align with strategy and business goals.

  • Develops a culture of data drive decisions, enabled through sales and distribution tools, analysis and subject matter expertise.

  • Accountable for P&C compensation design and development (for agency and employee plans), awards and recognition, sales compensation analytics, sales goal planning and sales compensation configuration management.

  • Leads the design and development of processes, tools and solutions that enable field sales and business development effectiveness. Develops plans to support the successful activation and adoption of sales/distribution processes, tools and solutions.

  • Designs and develops agency agreements/contracts and implementation plans. Ensures effective communication plan and delivery with all impacted audiences.

  • Sets direction, vision, and strategy for team, resolves escalated resource and team issues. Creates the right organizational structure, mix of people and resources to leverage opportunities and get results through guidance and motivation. Adjusts the organizational structure as business needs evolve ensuring the alignment of talent with business objectives.

  • Invests in the coaching and development of others, challenging and inspiring them to continuously expand their skills and competencies. Defines key measures for success for each function, measures and reports achievement.

  • Oversees associate management including performance management, salary planning and administration, training and development, workflow and organization planning, day-to-day management, hiring and placement, and disciplinary actions for direct and possibly indirect reports.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, Insurance/Risk Management, or related field. Graduate studies in related areas preferred.

License/Certification/Designation: Product-related technical insurance course work (CPCU, CPU, LOMA, CIC, CLCS) preferred.

Experience: Ten or more years’ field operations experience preferred with emphasis in insurance/financial services.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Knowledge of insurance, financial management, and project management. In-depth knowledge of business/staff unit products, services, organizational structure and strategic initiatives. Strong understanding of P&C Insurance Operations a must; experience working with P&C agents. Requires working knowledge of financial analysis. Demonstrated decision-making skills and strategic abilities, including the ability to recognize, analyze and improve operational and financial performance. Excellent verbal and written communications skills for internal/external contacts, negotiations, and presentations. Ability to drive for results, deal with ambiguity, and conceptualize strategic objectives. Ability to work independently and juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to interface with senior leaders and outside parties.
